I find it funny that you come back from Chile and refer to it as a "southern" summer. Always interesting how perception of geography is relative to your location and where you're originally from.

Yes, I hadn't thought of that as I wrote. In fact, I had an interesting time explaining to a Chilean how we define geography in the U.S. (e.g. why a state like Arizona is not "southern").
As Lewis Grizzard once said, American by birth, but Southern by the grace of God. Have you become a convert?
I don't think anyone can "convert" into a southerner. I will likely always be, as my wife's co-workers say, from the "left coast."
