Why Newt Gingrich shouldn't ever have foreign policy influence

From a Fox News interview, in which he was asked about Honduras:

VAN SUSTEREN: So why - why is the United States backing Zelaya, who is currently hiding out in the Brazilian Embassy in Honduras? Why - why - if it's as you say?

N. GINGRICH: Because the sympathy for the left in this administration is unending, and the fact is Zelaya is the Castro, Chavez candidate to be the strong man of Honduras. The fact is in Nicaragua, Somoza's trying to change the constitution so he can be a lifetime leader like Chavez, and you're seeing the redictatorship of Latin America from the left, from people who are both anti-American and anti-rule of law.

A Freudian slip, or just living in the past? Anastasio Somoza, of course, was the Nicaraguan dictator who was overthrown by the Sandinistas in 1979.

Also, I love the word "redictatorship."

Besides the slip on Somoza, what did he say that is incorrect? He's right in that Chavez is trying as hard as he can to stay in power as long as Castro. And he has several clones trying to do the same thing.

Newt is one of the smartest politicians in this country, and we'd be lucky to have him in the White House someday.

I've had it up to here with language like "hiding out" or "holed up" in reference to Pres. Zelaya's presence at the Brazilian embassy.

It's expected, if still deplorable, from right-wing commentators like Van Susteren and Gingrich, but I'm seeing way too much of it from writers who know better.

The rich ruling class in America has plundered half the wealth on planet earth, and because of this my laboring class in America is not allowed to have healthcare.

For 60% in America have excessive wealth, and if they stopped plundering the laboring class at home, then all would catch on that their plundering the workers abroad. This is the corruption inherent plunder, and this is why no-change Obama cannot interfere when the rich in Honduras enslave their people by a military coup.

What is dangerous to me is this constant need to connect Castro and Chavez to everything happening on the continent. The implication is that everything that these 2 want the US ought to oppose. Nevermind the fact that the entire world is in alignment with them on this issue. And how much of a "strong man" can you be with 3 months left of your term - and a military not under your control (as the San Jose proposal reads).

And I wonder what Newt thinks about Uribe wanting to extend his term?

Newt Gingrich is the Second Best Historian in this World.

The Best Historian in the World is Pat Buchanam, that wrote a book to say that Hitler should have been appeased and the second World War could have been avoided.

Pat talks about Poland and the allies been a threat and danger for Hitler. And so Hitler needed to attack Poland ( with Russian help at the same time ).

That is very funny, but not for the 3 million Polish Jews that perished. The Jewish Non Defamation League protested.
