The abundance of evidence about the absence of a crime wave at the border is worthy of more attention, though backfire will prevent some of it from getting through. From the El Paso Times, yet another example:
About 1,700 homicides have occurred in Juárez this year. El Paso has had one.
Despite the rampant bloodshed in Mexico, the overall crime rate in El Paso has decreased slightly this year.
Crime is not only not up, it is going down across the border from a Mexican city that is having incredibly serious problems. This is begging for fieldwork.
