Via The Latinamericanist (no connection to the journal) – Hugo Chávez often refers to Bush as “Mr. Danger” and it turns out it is a literary allusion to a classic 1929 Venezuelan novel that includes a lazy foreigner who refers to himself as Mr. Danger.

Apparently this was pointed out by Greg Grandin, whose books Empire’s Workshop and The Last Colonial Massacre are two I’ve been meaning to buy and read.

There are a lot of books in that category.
