Venezuela's bid for the UN Security Council
Curious. From the Miami Herald:
Peru could support Venezuela's bid for a seat on the U.N. Security Council, Peru's President-elect Alan García said Tuesday as he toned down a feud with Venezuela.
This comes just after reports in the Chilean press that Bachelet would vote against Venezuela, using the Peruvian opposition as cover to avoid making it look like she was bowing to U.S. demands.
So where does this leave Bachelet?

Closer to the States.
There is a niche there she may profit from.
I wonder what Chileans think about getting closer to the US.
Or maybe not--Chile may simply opt for Venezuela, risking the ire of the U.S. to maintain friendly relations in South America.
