Latinos and the presidential race

News 14 Carolina came over to my office yesterday to interview me about Latinos and the presidential race. The bottom line: the Latino electorate votes in smaller numbers but could play a role in the outcomes of some states. And naming Marco Rubio or some other Hispanic politician as VP could help Republicans, though not very dramatically.

And I appreciate the video plug of my book.

Professor Weeks :

Thanks for your always reasonable and rational views on this topic of Latinos and your Television Interview.

Journalist Michael Lacey has very interesting and even funny views on Latinos USA. He is a superb and excellent writer ( Something that is very scarce ).

Michael Lacey is one of the founders of the "Phoenix New Times", he has been in jail for being a journalist against Sheriff Joe Arpaio ( "The toughest sheriff in America" ).

The Phoenix New Times is a free, weekly Phoenix, Arizona newspaper, put out every Thursday. It is the founding publication of the New Times Media (now Village Voice Media), but The Village Voice is now the flagship publication of that company. The paper was founded in 1970 by a group of students at Arizona State University, led by Frank Fiore, Karen Lofgren, Michael Lacey, Bruce Stasium, Nick Stupey, Gayle Pyfrom, Hal Smith, and later, Jim Larkin as a counterculture response to the Kent State shootings in the spring of that year as a media arm of the SDS Students for a Democratic Society. Gary Brennan played a role in its creatio. -- This newspaper was always against the involvement in the Vietnam War.
